Ultra-cold atomic hydrogen beam
نویسندگان
چکیده
We investigated two methods of producing a continuous free beam of electron-spin polarized atomic hydrogen, using a 7.5 T solenoid magnetic field and a helium film-coated cell . The first method involves accumulating H 1 at high field in a 300 mK storage cell and flipping the electron spin by using microwaves to drive a hyperfine transition . The resulting HT atoms are accelerated and focused by the solenoid gradient to form an extracted beam. The second method uses the helium film-coated cell as an ultra-cold nozzle . Unpolarized hydrogen is thermalized in high field by collisions with the cell walls; the field gradient subsequently separates the atoms of different spin states to produce an HT beam .

Møller Polarimetry with Atomic Hydrogen Targets
A novel proposal of using polarized atomic hydrogen gas, stored in an ultra-cold magnetic trap, as the target for electron beam polarimetry based on Møller scattering is discussed. Such a target of practically 100% polarized electrons could provide a superb systematic accuracy of about 0.5% for beam polarization measurements. Feasibility studies for the CEBAF electron beam have been performed.
متن کاملResonant Laser Manipulation of an Atomic Beam
Theories for laser-atom interactions have been under development since the advent of laser technology. The theories have yet to be adequately integrated into kinetic flow solvers. Realizing this integration would greatly enhance the scaling of laser-species interactions beyond the realm of ultra-cold atomic physics. A representative numerical investigation was conducted using a custom collision...

Amorphous hydrogenated carbon (a-C:H) films offer a wide range of applications due to their extraordinary material properties like high hardness, chemical inertness and infrared transparency. The films are usually deposited in low temperature plasmas from a hydrocarbon precursor gas, which is dissociated and ionized in the plasma and radicals and ions impinging onto the surface leading to film ...
متن کاملLaser Cooling and Trapping of Atomic Strontium for Ultracold Atoms Physics, High-precision Spectroscopy and Quantum Sensors
This review describes the production of atomic strontium samples at ultra-low temperature and at high phase-space density, and their possible use for physical studies and applications. We describe the process of loading a magneto-optical trap from an atomic beam and preparing the sample for high precision measurements. Particular emphasis is given to the applications of ultracold Sr samples, sp...
